Murder Threat Against Harrison

George Harrison is feeling quite uncomfortable these days. The
ex-Beatle and his family have received a mysterious letter, and the
way things stand "It is time that you go or 'bye-bye, George'." The
police are investigating and hope to be able to trace the sender.
They suspect that there is a connection between this and other
threatening letters he has been receiving over the last six years.
All the surviving Beatles become nervous above all at Christmastime
ever since John Lennon was shot to death on December 8, 1980.

They wrote about flower-power time when John Lennon and Yoko Ono
occupied an Amsterdam Hotel. In a big double bed wearing high-
necked pajamas, the pair smiled for the cameras. Of course, the
Hilton suite is now named after them. The room has now even been
declared a branch of the wedding registry office. A couple from the
USA have already said "I do" there. Motto: Pajamas instead of a
bridal gown and the registrar possibly sitting on the chamber pot.

 launch the group's Anthology III album.
 The Beatles chose shopping malls in    
 Hamburg, Frankfurt, Nuremberg, Berlin  
 and Cologne to show exclusive footage  
 from the group's new 10-video Anthology
 documentary on high density screens.   
 But Hamburg dignitaries invoked ancient
 laws to prevent the stunt going ahead.

career, they were unwelcomed on Thursday evening. In Frankfurt,

downtown Hamburg, the local authorities withdrew their oral approval
right at the beginning of the show. Said Beatle's spokesman Geoff

 George Harrison is having a taxing time
 with American politician Bob Dole. The 
 Republican presidential candidate has  
 hijacked the 1966 Beatles track Taxman 
 as the rousing chorus to his           
 electioneering rallies. But apolitical 
 Harrison, who penned the song, didn't  
 even know Taxman was being used.       
                                        
 Harrison's spokesman Derek Taylor says,
 "What cheek. George thinks all         
 politicians are equally deplorable. He 
 wrote the song as an anti-political    
 statement originally as he believes no 
 one should pay any taxes." But there is
 little Harrison can do as Michael      
 Jackson and Sony own the song's rights.

Unbelievable. The head of EMI record company has had the company icons, the Beatles,
censored. It was revealed in a report written in the "Independent"
that any quotations relating to drugs were to be removed from the
liner notes on the backs of the "Anthology" video boxes before the
eight-tape collection was delivered.
Affected were statements by Ringo Starr and the group's spokesman
Derek Taylor. Fortunately the tapes themselves were not altered and
contain, for example, unseen footage of a band conversation about
marihuana.

The waiting has ended: The third and last part of the "Beatles
Anthology" with 50 songs will be released world-wide on October 28th.
It contains material from the years 1968 to 1970. The double CD will

never before released. The Beatles sold 13 million copies of the last

The biggest auction of Rock'n'Roll memorabilia ever is
currently taking place in Los Angeles. Besides dozens of gold records,
autographed posters or clothing from concerts, a "Penny Lane" street
sign is up for bidding. The street was made famous in the 60s through
the Beatle song with the same name. "We know that a lot of signs were
stolen after the song became a hit. The same thing happened
immediately after 'Abbey Road' was released," so says the auction
organizer.

 The Rutles grew out of a sketch created

Lennon Letters Found

What a find! Stan Parkes, the brother of John Lennon's cousin Leila
Harvey, has discovered a shoebox with letters written by the ex-Beatle
who was slain in 1980. Written in the middle of the 70s, a time when
Lennon had gone into complete seclusion, the letters paint a new
picture of the musician. It seems that he was fighting for his relationship
to his son with the mother. And John was also clean:
"I'm as clean as a whistle. I don't even take aspirin."

Strange. For what is presumably the first moving picture of the
Beatles, Sotheby's auction house in London cannot seem to find a
potential buyer willing to offer a high enough bid. The 35 second film
was taken during a 1961 Fab Four appearance at the "Casanova Club" in
their home town of Liverpool. Experts place its worth at around
165,200 DM. ($95,700) They received only a meager 35,000DM bid.
($20,300) Following that, Sotheby's withdrew this little film made by
a fan from the bidding.

An enormous surprise for Roy Norman. After the death of his father
Charlie, he found a box in a garage containing undeveloped film.
Together with a friend, he developed the material - and found
565 unpublished photos of the Beatles in his hands. The funny thing
about it - nobody knows where the photos came from. Roy says, "It is
strange because I had a close relationship with my father, but the
Beatles were never mentioned, even though I was a big fan of the Fab
Four as a child."

Rock Cafe. The restaurant chain acquired the skin-tight trousers for
5500 DM ($3,100). A 9-line text written by Buddy Holly brought in at
least 1650 DM ($950).

 The document was meant to be           
 photocopied and inserted as a sleeve   
 note for Lennon's Imagine album, but   
 was withdrawn because it was thought to
 be too caustic.                        
                                        
 Meanwhile, Lennon's former marital bed 
 is being sold by his first wife,       
 Cynthia, on Thursday. It is expected to
 fetch between $15,000 and $22,500.

Two Beatles have now been engaged to produce commercials for a
Japanese advertising agency. Ringo Starr is lending his likeness to
promote a new apple juice drink. With his name, it is no wonder. In
Japanese "Ringo" means "apple". Years ago he had been appearing in
Japanese advertisements for tonic water. A new face in Japan, on the
other hand, is Paul McCartney's. He had always forbidden his to be
used in Japanese advertisements, but now he is letting it be used to

                       CONVENTION       
                       IN CUBA          
 An international Beatles convention is 
 now being planned for Cuba - a country 
 where they were once banned. The       
 capital Havana will host its first Fab 
 Four convention between October 15-17. 
                                        
 All the Beatles films and the 10-hour  
 Anthology documentary that aired across
 the world last year will be shown and  
 workshops will examine the Cuban       
 influence on the group's music.        
                                        
 Tickets for foreign visitors to the    
 tropical island will cost $30 with     
 native Cuban Beatles' fans paying less 
 than $3.

48 Million for Lennon Son

Yoko Ono has gone into her petty cash to assist the destitute son of
her slain husband, John Lennon. Julian has obtained 48 million DM as
a little foretaste of his inheritance. Since the death of the Beatle,
Yoko has served as the administrator of his fortune - around 600
million DM. Julian had to live from a mere 240 000 DM per year. Not
enough he found, and managd to pump more out of Yoko.
With these millions, he should be able to put a little boost into his own music career.
