Many girls in the sixties would have
given anything to sleep in John
Lennon's bed. And now finally, they
can, because the former Beatle's old
bed is up for sale.
It's being auctioned in September by
Lennon's first wife Cynthia and is
expected to fetch over $20,000.
Memorabilia experts believe there are
many more Beatles artefacts out there
which are worth a lot of money.

Ein echter Fang für Beat-

dem John Lennon einige sei-
ner Frühwerke entwarf, kommt
nun bei Christie's unter den
Hammer. Die Liegestatt aus
Messing und schwarz lackier-
tem Holz war 1963 Zeuge der
aufblühenden Liebe zwischen
John und seiner ersten Gat-
tin Cynthia.
Das prächtige Teil könnte
Klassiker wie "I Feel Fine"
oder auch, hmm, "Help" in-
spiriert haben. Auf jeden
Fall wurde hier nicht Julian
Lennon auf den Weg gebracht
- der kam schon 1962 zur

EMMY AWARDS
The Beatles have been nominated for one
of the top prizes in television - an
EMMY award for the best documentary
series. The group's five hour Beatles
Anthology series was screened in 94
countries last November and December.
It has been nomintaed for three EMMY
awards - outstanding informational
series, outstanding picture editing and
outstanding sound editing.
An estimated 420 million people watched
Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr and George
Harrison tell the story of the fab
four, with the help of archive footage
of late singer John Lennon.

Oasis are not as popular as Depeche
Mode or Neil Young but they have sold
exactly as many albums as Sting - in
bootleg form.
According to the British Phonographic
Institute, the Beatles and the artist
formerly known as Prince have had most
illegal recordings made of their work -
186 and 180 respectively. Close behind
are Bob Dylan with 169, the Rolling
Stones with 167 and U2 with 149. Neil
Young and Depeche Mode notch up 97 and
75 respectively. Sting and Oasis are
far down the scale with only 30 illegal
CDS and records with their names on.

jungen Karriere schon 30 il-
legale Aufnahmen - sogenann-
te Bootlegs - gibt.
Natürlich sind die "alten"
Acts bei der Zählung vorne.
Die Beatles führen die Liste

million after a record year for their
golden oldies.
New figures reveal their Apple Corp
company raked in $27.75 million in the
year to February 1995. That's the most
the Fab Four's firm has ever made in a
year from music sales.
But the period only covers the first
phase of the revival of Beatlemania.
Experts claim the music industry's
biggest money machine will coin in even
more during the next two years.

TO JOIN
THE WHO
Beatle Ringo Starr's son Zak Starkey
has been forced to quit his up and
coming British rock group Face - to
become a permanent member of The Who.
The delighted 29-year-old drummer was
reportedly given the news on Monday
after he played with the band at the
Quadrophenia concert in Hyde Park.
Starkey has already signed up to
perform Quadrophenia with Roger
Daltrey, Pete Townshend and John
Entwhistle for six nights at New York's
Madison Square Gardens from July 16 and
more dates are expected to follow.

AT RELEASE
OF BOOTLEG
The surviving members of the Beatles
are up in arms at the planned release
of a bootleg recording of an early Fab
Four gig in Hamburg, Germany in 1962.
They have issued a writ at London's
High Court against Lingasong Music and
are seeking a court order banning the
company from releasing the recording on
CD. They also want the company to hand
over or destroy other illicit material
in their possession.
In 1977, they unsuccessfully brought
an action over the release of the
recording on vinyl, but the album
flopped because of poor sound quality.
