Harrison auf! Und er war

Anmaßung, sondern brachte
dem "George" der Gruppe so-
gar bei, wie die Akkorde des
"neuen" Hits "Free As A
Bird" gehen.
"Wir fragten George, was er
von uns halte. Er sagte, wir
seien vermutlich sogar bes-
ser als die echten Beatles,
weil wir das Material so oft

Oasis have said that it is
blasphemous to be compared
to The Beatles.
This comes after a British magazine
survey of people aged between 15 to 45
revealed that Oasis ranked higher then
The Beatles in most categories. The
Oasis office has responded with the
following statement,
"This survey puts Oasis up there as a
classic band alongside the greats like
The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Bob Marley
et cetera. Are they bigger then The
Beatles? That's blasphemony!"

FOR TIBET
BENEFIT CONCERT
George Harrison is to burst back onto
the performance stage for Tibet. Former
Beatle Harrison will join Rolling
Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood and a host
of other musicians at a benefit concert
to help Tibetans fight off China's
attempt to overrun their country.
Also confirmed on the bill at the
concert in the grounds of Alexandra
Palace, London, on July 20 are Sinead
O'Connor, Pink Floyd's Dave Gilmour,
Mike Oldfield and newcomer Kula Shaker.
Thousands of Tibetans have fled to
northern India to escape Chinese
persecution.

British survey.
In the study more than a thousand
people were asked about what records
they buy. Oasis came out on top in
three categories including all-time
favourite band among people under 25,
pushing their heroes The Beatles into
second place.
They were also voted the current
favourite pop act.

The world's first Beatles cafe in
London will be lined with exclusive
photos and memorabilia of the group.
Lifelong Beatles fans Thomas Mostyn and
Steven Turner have spent a small
fortune buying authentic pictures for
their Fab Four cafe just yards from the
Beatles' Abbey Road studio.
The front will be adorned with a 2.5m
long yellow submarine and 1960s-style
psychedelic paintwork. And the interior
will be painted black and white as a

The Gallaghers are considered rather like the Beatles--as far as
musical resemblances go. Oasis leader Noel thinks, however, the similarities
finally end when it comes to girlfriends.
"There is no day that I do not listen to the Beatles", stated the
guitarist. "I am fascinated by the band. But I will not look for a Japanese
girlfriend. I am not like John Lennon, who believed he was the Allmighty. I
only think that I am John Lennon".

TO HIROSHIMA
AIDS is just as much a catastrophe as
the atomic bombing of Hiroshima,
according to the wife of late Beatles
star John Lennon.
Yoko Ono is about to release an album
of songs in memory of the 1945
Hiroshima tragedy, but she is urging
the world to think more about the
problems of AIDS.
Ono says, "I have many friends around
me facing a slow death from AIDS. They
are suffering low white blood cell
counts exactly as the Hiroshima victims
were. I live through their nightmares."

Aberglaube macht auch vor
Promis nicht halt. Das fand
die französische Zeitschrift
"Voici" heraus.
Ein paar Beispiele: Sili-
con-Model Anna Nicole Smith
hat eine spirituelle Ver-
bindung mit Marily Monroe,
nachdem sie kurzzeitig im
Haus des toten Hollywood-
Stars gewohnt hat.
Noch ärger traf es Beatle
Paul McCartney. Er erhält
in seinem Schlafgemach re-
gelmäßig Besuch von seinem
erschossenen Kumpel John
Lennon. Allerdings hält John
keine Ansprachen. Paul: "Er
lächelt nur."

The supernatural also goes with promise not fulfilled, as the French
magazine "Voici" found out.
A pair of examples: Silicon model Anna Nicole Smith has a
supernatural relationship with Marilyn Monroe after having lived for a short
time in the house of the dead Hollywood star.
It even has struck Beatle Paul McCartney a great deal. He is
regularly visited in his bedroom by his mate John Lennon, who was shot.
John, however, has no message. Paul: "He only smiles".

Nicht, was man denken soll-
te, sondern: The Who. Klar,
daß Zak vor Freude ausflipp-
te, als ihn Townshend & Co.
baten, bei ihren Sommerkon-
zerten den Platz am Drum-Kit
einzunehmen.
Noch aus einem weiteren
Grund fühlt sich Zak geehrt:
Es war nicht Daddy, sondern
der legendäre, '78 gestorbe-
ne Who-Schlagwerker Keith
Moon, der dem Siebenjährigen
damals seine erste Schießbu-
de schenkte und dem Kleinen
zeigte, wie man den Rhythmus
hält.

Wohltätige Rest-Beatles?
Mit den gigantischen und
stets von den Rest-Beatles
ausgeschlagenen Konzertange-
boten könnte man bereits Bü-
cher füllen. Doch Promoter
Sid Bernstein gibt noch
nicht auf.
Er möchte am 23. August im
New Yorker Shea Stadium ei-
nen Gig der Fab Three veran-
stalten. Mit dem Erlös könn-
te eine Wohlfahrtsorganisa-
tion mit Milliarden-Budget
gegründet werden. "Die Bot-
schaft würde in der ganzen
Welt gehört", meint er. Doch
die Beatles sagen (noch):
"Die Antwort lautet nein!"

Promoter Sid Berstein has vowed to
continue his battle to persuade the
three remaining Beatles to perform a
summer concert in New York's Shea
Stadium.
Even though the group rejected a $500
million offer to headline the Second
British Invasion festival in August,
Berstein refuses to give-up.
He says, "This isn't about money but a
magical moment in all of our lives that
we can realise now. With all due
respect, no three world leaders could
get the kind of reaction as these guys"
