A report from the Slovene news agency, STA, states that yesterday Sir Paul and Heather visited the International Trust Fund for Demining and Mine Victims Assistance (ITF) in Ljubljana, Slovenia to promote their Adopt-A-Minefield campaign. Sir Paul and Heather met with Dorijan Marsic, the head of ITF, to discuss the rehabilitation of victims of mines. Heather is seeking closer cooperation with the ITF and asked for an exchange of information with the ITF and the promotion of new rehabilitation projects. She stressed the need for closer contact with victims of land mines in order to ensure comprehensive psychological, social and economic rehabilitation. Mr. Marsic said that this meeting will open possibilities for closer cooperation between the ITF and Adopt-A-Minefield which crucial due to fading interest by donators to support mine victims assistance programs. Only 2.8% of donated funds last year were intended for rehabilitation of victims.
Later, Sir Paul and Heather met with the head of the Croatia Mine Victims Association, Martina Belosevic, adviser at the Croatian Mine Action Center, Liljana Calic-Zmiric, and the head of the Slovene Rehabilitation Institute, Robert Cugelj.
