It has been a busy two weeks for Stella McCartney.
First there was the grand success of the Paris show of her Autumn/Winter Collection. (March 11) People are still talking not only about her stunning clothing designs, but about her clever invitations to the event as well (the invites were pasted to the backs of joke shop novelty items). One proud owner remarked, "They really are a collectors' item. People didn't want to lose them."
After the show, Stella was given a well deserved standing ovation from the 650 members of the audience. Then she was off to a private reception where, exhausted, she fell into the arms of her proud father who beamed, "She's my baby."
Later, Sir Paul shared these thoughts with the press: "You know what, I thought that show was fantastic. It was classic, elegant, sexy, amusing, streetwise - really great. If I was a girl, I would have some of it."
On Monday, Stella was back in London, where she and Labour MP Tony Banks paid a visit to Prime Minister Tony Blair's 10 Downing Street office to hand deliver a letter urging the government to reintroduce the Hunting Bill without delay. Stella told the reporters gathered on Downing Street, "I'm totally against the barbaric cruelty of killing foxes. I think there has been way too much to-ing and fro-ing with this issue and it's time for the country to move with the times."
Yesterday, Stella was in Liverpool where she presented her Autumn/Winter Collection at the Newz Brasserie located in New Zealand House, Water Street, in Liverpool's city center. Located in this historic building, the brasserie has been restored to the look of the Art Deco days of the 1920's. The event was held to benefit the Lily Centre, a Liverpool breast cancer support center. The center offers drop-in support as well as confidential before and after-care services from medical and nursing professionals.
Today, the Mirror is reporting that Stella is in love and has never been happier. To prove it, the story is accompanied by a photo of Stella stroking the hair of Alasdhair Willis, publisher of the trendy Wallpaper magazine (and who is also known as Mr. Gucci for his love of designer labels). The couple has been trying to dodge the papparazzi ever since they met at a fashion party last June. A witness to this particular scene in a Paris park reports that Stella later hopped on Alasdhair's lap to give him a hug. According to the onlooker, "Stella is clearly devoted to him. It was very romantic."
