In the Spring issue of the music magazine Mojo Collections Sir Paul reveals that not only is he is a fan of the controversial rapper Eminem, but also that the artist's hit Stan is one of his favorite songs:
"I kinda of like Stan. I liked it that (Sir) Elton (John) did it with him at that Grammys thing, because he was suspected to be homophobic, so I guess that put that down. Which is good because it is only show biz. It's good to remember that, otherwise you start thinking 'what the f***'s happening in the world, man?"
Sir Paul admits that he was concerned when he heard his son James playing rap records with lyrics like "slap my bitch" , but his son assured him:
" 'It's only a song dad'. It reminded you that we had all of that with rock'n'roll - Elvis isn't trying to s***anyone, he's just moving his hips. All our parents went 'oh, the state of him'. We never saw it until they said it. I think it's the same again. But if anyone takes it too seriously, it's not too cool."
However, to create a romantic mood, Sir Paul's artist of choice is Frank Sinatra:
"You know, when you've got the candles going and you're having dinner with your bird - as I am currently - with a glass of wine, there's no finer record really."
