Comments

This disc set has been released around the 1998 Chicago Beatlefest and is one of the most interesting disc sets of the year! Finally we get to hear the complete Glasgow concert which was the final concert of the 1979 tour. The band was very tight and the performance just great. Paul had this concert recorded for a possible release; however, only "Coming Up" was released (on the Coming Up 45). Ever since then, it was told how great of a concert this was. A couple of years ago, a handful of tracks were finally released on the scarce Orange "Glasgow '79" disc - taken from various noisy tape sources (but still in stereo). Sulpy wrote that the entire concert is circulating on tape in better and constant quality. The Vigotone folks seem to own a lower generation copy of that tape and it's finally released here. The concert IS just great - what a band the 1979 Wings were!!! Perfect performances, enhanced by great brass/orchestral support.

Sound quality of the discs: very good to excellent stereo throughout; source obviously some cassette copy of the soundboard recording, maybe a couple of generations away. Very subtle tendency to misaligned azimuth head setting, it seems. CD-R mastering has a handful of glitches. Only little tape noise. Very much better than the Orange release.

This disc set is highly recommended as this concert definitely is one of the highlights of Paul's live performances!
