On Saturday evening, a spokesperson for the McCartney family confirmed that Heather is recovering from surgery on her leg. Last Monday, Heather underwent a rare surgical procedure called a "revision amputation", which involved reattaching muscle tissue to the bone (see January 29, 2006). According to the spokesperson:"It is a major operation but she is fine. It has been a success. She's in a wheelchair - but out of hospital. Heather has been putting off having the operation, but she couldn't put it off any longer. Paul has been very supportive. She will spend the next few weeks recuperating."
It was reported that Heather is recovering at home. She will be confined to a wheelchair during the initial period of her recovery. Heather is expected to be walking with the assistance of crutches for at least two months.
