2003-Aug-28: Father of the Bride En Route to Bute

Both London's Evening Standard and Scotland's Daily Record are reporting that Stella McCartney's wedding to Alasdhair Willis could be taking place as soon as tomorrow afternoon.

Mount Stuart House ChapelSome reports say that the wedding ceremony will take place on her mother's favorite place on earth, Saddell Beach on Mull of Kintyre. Other reports say the couple will be wed in the Mount Stuart House estate's marble chapel on Saturday. Stella's wedding guests are expected to be transported to the Isle of Bute aboard a flotilla of yachts to attend the £2million three-day reception. A jazz band will greet the wedding party as it arrives at a private jetty at the Mount Stuart House estate. It is also reported that Luciano Pavarotti will serenade guests during the reception. The guest list includes Madonna, Kate Moss, Sadie Frost, Sharleen Spiteri, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Chris Martin.

Stella is reported to have arrived on Bute about 6:00 yesterday evening. She was spotted being whisked away in a black Range Rover with tinted windows to Mount Stuart House.

Sir Paul and Heather flew into London's Heathrow airport from New York yesterday. Sir Paul is expected to arrive on the Isle of Bute today.

Security is tight around Mount Stuart House, a Victorian home set on a 300-acre estate. A team of security guards arrived on the island on Tuesday to cordon off Mount Stewart's grounds. The mansion has been closed to the public since Sunday. .Every vehicle entering the estate is being thoroughly searched and the Mount Stuart House staff wearing has been seen wearing various grades and colors of laminated passes.

A spokeswoman for Mount Stuart denies that they are hosting the McCartney wedding saying, "Security is tight because we're holding a gas conference over the weekend. The house is closed to the public for the winter season." A similar story was used when Sir Paul wed Heather Mills in an Irish castle last summer.

Alasdhair Willis's father also denies that the wedding is about to take place. He told reporters, "If it is happening this weekend you know more than we do. I know nothing about it and we would expect to be there if it was taking place."

Stella's publicist, however, says the wedding will take place: "As far as I am aware, it's happening. I just cannot release any details of when and where it will happen."
