ABC News is reporting today that Sir Paul may perform in Cuba next year. They quote the Juventud Rebelde newspaper as saying that Sir Paul's representatives will travel to Cuba in July to explore the possibility. Cuba's Culture Minister, Abel Prieto, says that the government has given Sir Paul the approval to hold a concert in the country. Cuban writer, Ernesto Juan Castellanos, who attended Sir Paul's June 1 Liverpool concert , claims:
"I know for sure that he wants to come. His representatives have asked me about many things."During a chat with Sir Paul, Mr. Castellanos asked Sir Paul when he would be returning to Cuba. Sir Paul jokingly replied, "Next week!"
Sir Paul and his children visited Cuba in January, 2000 to learn about the traditional music of the island (see January 16, 2000 News Update).
