Monday's Daily Mail quoted Sir Paul as saying that he has not been told about Stella's wedding plans. When asked if Stella would be getting married this summer at the family home on Kintyre, Sir Paul replied that he was in the dark:"I don't know. I have no idea. It's private to Stella."Meanwhile, today's Daily Telegraph printed a story about Stella's engagement ring. The ring was designed by 30-year-old London jeweler Julia Rogers (or Jules as her friends and customers call her). Ms. Rogers is known for her romantic but modern custom-made pieces. Stella's engagement ring was Mrs. Rogers first celebrity commission. When her husband Andrew, Stella's brand manager, learned that Alasdhair Willis was going to propose to Stella in three weeks and was looking for a ring, he suggested that his wife might be the person to design it. According to Mrs. Rogers:"Andy and Alasdhair are mates and I was chuffed and terrified. Stella knows what she likes and Alasdhair knew exactly what he wanted from the color and sparkle of the diamonds down to the shape of the ring itself.Stella is so pleased with her ring that she has asked for Mrs. Rogers' advice as Stella prepares to design a new line of Stella McCartney jewelry. Mrs. Rogers shared this bit of design philosophy with Stella:
"I broke all the rules and let him come with me to my craftsmen. It was a highly original brief, to create something antique, yet modern and practical. Something Stella could wear to ride horses or to wash up in.""I apply the same old-meets-new philosophy to wedding jewelry to other pieces. Everything is designed to last a lifetime, not to go in and out of fashion."
