Although the shop has been open for business for a month (see May 3), Stella hosted a glamorous launch party this evening at her first London boutique. Among the guests were designers Tom Ford and Valentino, actresses Emilia Fox and Tara Fitzgerald, Sadie Frost, Sharleen Spiteri, Dan Macmillan and Sam Taylor-Wood. Stella's friend, Madonna, was her guest of honor. With Sir Paul performing in Hungary last evening, the McCartney family was represented by Stella's sister, Mary.
Stella arrived at party with fiancé, Alasdhair Willis, at her side. Reports say that Stella "looked tanned and trim" wearing a black jersey dress of her own design. After posing briefly for the photographers, Stella remarked, "Now I can relax."
Equipped with restful sofas and cozy fireplaces, Stella has created a relaxing atmosphere in her boutique. In fact, the four-story Georgian townhouse is said to look more like a private home than a shop. According to Stella:
"I don't want people to be frightened to come in. "I don't want the atmosphere to intimidate anyone. I've chosen each detail with love and I want people to explore, spend time and have an adventure here. I'm very happy with the result - it's a dream come true to have a store in London."During the party, Stella's guests sipped vodka and violet cocktails and ate miniature vegetarian sausages. After the party, Madonna and Stella (or Melly and Stelly as they call each other) joined Alasdhair and Guy Ritchie for dinner at the Mirabelle. The couples later moved the celebration to Annabelle's where they partied until the early hours of the morning.
