According to recent stories published in the British press, the new Stella McCartney Boutique in Mayfair is a major success. Not only can one shop for Stella's latest designs at the boutique. One can also enjoy an exhibit of Tracey Emin's art, sip herbal tea under a maple tree in the enclosed garden, and perhaps run into Madonna, Liv Tyler, Gwyneth Paltrow, Cameron Diaz, Nicole Kidman, Kate Hudson, or Kate Moss on their way to the shop's elegant VIP room. Stella designed her boutique to please all who visit her shop:
"I always felt really intimidated by shops when I was younger. I still find the idea that you have to buy something as soon as you walk in insulting. I think people should come in and reap the benefits of being a customer and have me say, 'Thanks for coming. I'm glad you came into my shop'."Stella's boutique is located in a huge, glamorous Georgian townhouse The shop features mile-high ceilings, huge windows and sinding staircases. The decor is described as a sleek mixture of pretty and irreverent - toile de jouy wallpaper featuring cherubs and guns. The ground floor is dominated by a huge fairy holding a pair of neon-bright plastic stilettos from Stella's non-leather shoe collection. There is also a plum colored fragrance room ( as Stella is preparing to launch her first fragrance) .
Stella shares the top floor of her boutique with Savile Row tailor Henry Rose whose client list includes Sting and Guy Ritchie. Stella has plans to expand her designs to include men's tailoring.
So is everyone welcome to drop in and enjoy Stella's new boutique located at 30 Bruton Street, London W1 ?
"Oh God, yes, anyone!" says Stella.
