On Wednesday evening, Sir Paul invited Northern Ireland's Belfast Newsletter reporter, Paul Martin, to join him backstage at his Manchester concert to talk about his Ulster roots:"I researched my family tree a few years ago. I spent ages finding out how strong the Irish connection was and in the end the family tree led me back to Belfast. My grandparents and great grandparents have a strong association with the city. The rest of the Beatles had connections with Ireland too - so I guess we were all Paddies."Mr. Martin described the backstage area as being draped in ethnic style rugs, with scented candles and white lilies everywhere. He reports that Sir Paul has recovered from his cold and was in fantastic form for his Manchester concert.
Mr. Martin also had an opportunity to meet Heather who told him:"I'm going to try and get to nearly all the concerts on the tour. I love seeing Paul perform. It takes a lot out of him but he is happier than ever being back on the stage. It's what he does best."Sir Paul added:"This is a real value for money show. I'm out there for nearly three hours and I decided it was about time to bring back the Beatles songs that everyone wants to hear."
