London's Evening Standard reports that the McCartney family has arrived in Ireland for Stella McCartney's New Year's wedding to Alasdhair Willis. The venue of the ceremony is being kept a closely guarded secret. The wedding guests were booked onto a Holyhead ferry over the weekend and were told to keep the rest of the week clear. It seems the guests don't even know when or where the wedding will take place. It could be tomorrow - it could be on Saturday.
The report goes on to say that the wedding ceremony is expected to take the form of a non-religious blessing. It is also expected that the celebration will be far less lavish than Sir Paul's wedding to Heather Mills earlier this year. However, the setting may again be an Irish castle. It is known that Stella visited the 13th century Ashford Castle in County Mayo (see September 9). Stella's friends have said that Stella has been "weighing up" several other possible venues including "various mansions owned by celebrities" in Ireland. One thing for sure - her stepmother, Heather, will be in attendance. A friend of Stella's is quoted as saying today that, "She thought she'd better invite Heather because it would have caused a problem with her dad and she didn't want there to be any unpleasantness on her wedding day."
