According to the concert industry experts at Pollster, Sir Paul has beaten The Beatles' old rivals, The Rolling Stones, to claim the year's highest grossing American tour. Sir Paul's tour this year GBP 68.8 million, ahead of the GBP 60 million for the Stones. According to Pollstar editor Gary Bongiovanni: "It's the first time since we've been ranking the concert business that they [the Stones] went on the road and did not have the No1."
However, Sir Paul did not top the Stones' all-time concert earnings. Their record remains unbroken with their 1994 tour which grossed nearly GBP 80.8 million. In second place is U2's 2001 tour which grossed GBP 73.1 million.
