Up for auction this Thursday, October 3 at Christie's in London, South Kensington, are Sir Paul's handwritten lyrics to his 1969 Mary Hopkin classic Good-bye. Sir Paul wrote the lyrics and guitar chord annotations an a sheet of Apple stationery. The estimated value of this rare sheet of paper is 20,000 - 30,000 British pounds (up to $45,000).
More than 80 other Beatles items are up for bid including gold discs, autographs, vinyl records, toys, mugs and other memorabilia.
October 3 update: Sir Paul's hand-written lyrics for the song "Good-bye" did not meet its reserve price and thus did not sell today. Christie's pop specialist, Sarah Hodgson, was disappointed by the poor showing for this and other items of pop memorabilia. She told reporters, "There wasn't the interest we hoped for, which was puzzling."
