Sir Paul and Ringo Starr along with Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, former Traveling Wilburys Tom Petty and Jeff Lynne, Jools Holland, Ravi Shankar, and Monty Python members Michael Palin and Eric Idle are planning to perform during a memorial concert to be held at the Royal Albert Hall in London on November 29 to mark the first anniversary of the death of their friend, George Harrison. According to a Sun newspaper "insider":"This is obviously a very special event and his closest pals, who happen to be the biggest names in music, want to mark the occasion. It will be an absolute dream for fans with one of the best line-ups ever."Proceeds from the concert will be donated towards cancer research.
The concert will be filmed for a television special to air in early 2003. Tickets for the concert will go on sale on October 11.
On a related note, up until September of last year, George was writing and recording tracks for his final solo album, Brainwashed. The album's producer, Jeff Lynne, has announced that the album is being completed and is scheduled to be released on November 19.
