The Estates Gazette reports that Stella McCartney signed up for her first UK store, a flagship unit at 30 Bruton Street, W1, the former site of the Lefevre art gallery. The Stella McCartney Collection will occupy the entire 14,000 square foot building with a shop on the first two levels and offices, studios and storage on the remaining four floors.
The building forms part of the Berkeley Square Estate which was bought by private Middle Eastern investors, linked to the national bank of Abu Dhabi, last year for around £315m. The Estate hopes to attract upmarket fashion retailers to the area. According to Duncan Ferguson of Lancer Asset Management, the company that manages the Estate, "This is our first letting since the purchase of the Berkeley Square Estate. It is very much the way forward for our plans to extend the retail pitch on Bond Street, and develop Bruton Street as a destination shopping area."
