In her first interview since her marriage to Sir Paul, Heather told Prima magazine that she feels that she has received a hostile reception from Sir Paul's fans and she attributes this to jealousy. Heather told the interviewer:"It's mainly from female Beatles fans around Paul's age. Even now, they're jealous that I'm with everyone's favorite Beatle. He's so sweet. He's energizing - like a kind of Peter Pan character. When you see him walking down the street, he literally skips, just like a little boy. In many ways, he's definitely the youngest guy I've ever been out with. Psychologically, I feel on an equal level with Paul. There are a million reasons why I love him, but the main one is that I'm with someone who is totally secure in who he is and doesn't resent my work. We're together seven days a week. We sit down and go through our diaries together each month and we don't do anything if it takes us away from each other. The best thing is that Paul fell in love with who I am, and he wouldn't try to change me. Just as I wouldn't dream of telling him to stop singing and painting and touring, he wouldn't try to stop my charity work. This is what my life is about.
"I've only had six relationship in my life. I'm still close friends with all of my exes, bar one. Men fall in love with who I am. But then they end up resenting my charity work because I can't help giving myself totally to anything or anyone who's in need. One of them said that when I go off to a war zone, they feel inadequate staying at home.
"Paul has taught me to slow down. He won't allow me to tear out of the house as I used to because he says this is our time. And he's right. Paul insists that there are times in the day when I switch the phone off. In the evening, I cook and we eat dinner together and talk, and that's been very good for me."
