Updated June 16. Sir Paul and his bride are honeymooning on a private island in the Seychelles. According to the Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation, the newlyweds arrived yesterday from Belfast, Northern Ireland.
The island paradise in the Indian Ocean is a popular retreat of the rich and famous. The Seychelles is a destination extremely difficult to reach and the islands are surrounded by by dangerous rocks, reefs and seas making it difficult for the papparazzi boats to get too close to the shore. Many of the privately-owned islands are populated with luxury homes and exclusive, private resorts. George Harrison once owned an estate on the Seychelles island of Mahe, but the land was seized by the government back in the 1970s.
Sir Paul and Heather are said to be staying at a villa on the tiny tropical island of Cousine. Located 6km off the west coast of Praslin, Seychelles second largest island. The entire island, which is less than a square mile in size, was the location for the film Castaway. The island is a private nature reserve and as the Island's creatures have no natural predators on the island, they have no fear of humans. Cousine Island offers an exclusive island experience with complete privacy found in very few other places on earth. A maximum of ten guests are accommodated at any one time and share the island with its natural inhabitants. To further guarantee his privacy, reports say that Sir Paul has hired the entire island for his honeymoon.
