2002-Jun-10: The Bride and Groom Meet the Press

Updated June 17:  Late this afternoon, Sir Paul and Heather Mills posed briefly for fans and members of the press outside the gates of Castle Leslie. Sir Paul told the group of about 300 people:
"As you know, through Uncle Jack, there is going to be a wedding tomorrow, but it is a secret!

"All right, I'm not supposed to tell anybody anything. So, what we are going to do, it's basically a family wedding. So we are going to have family and friends. And we are just going to have a bit of fun. And we won't be up -- hello.  So there you are. Thank you much for your support. We'll see you. Thank you. All right. Now, if you didn't get that, you didn't get it.

"We would just like to thank all the people who have wished us good wishes and who have written to us."
Is Sir Paul nervous?
"Just a bit."
Sir Paul reported that the wedding rehearsals have gone "brilliantly".  He also revealed that his brother, Mike, will be his best man.

During the appearance, Sir Paul (dressed in a blue sweater and gray trousers) kissed Heather twice and presented his bride with a red rose.  Heather (dressed in a cream pullover and blue jeans) said that she had designed her wedding dress with the help of London London fashion house Avis & Brown.

Sir Paul stated that his wedding date had been leaked to the press in the "best possible way" by "Uncle Jack".  He added: "It's not a celebrity wedding. There will probably only be about ten people at the wedding you have heard of and the rest will be family and friends."

And what if it rains?  Sir Paul said, "We're not going to worry about the weather, we're just going to have a great time."

Then Sir Paul told the crowd that he was going back into the castle:

"So, there you are. Thank you very much for your support. And we will see you. Thank you. All right?"
