Sir Paul and Heather Mills have refused Hello magazine's attempt to secure the rights to their wedding pictures. Geoff Baker explained:"They were offered £1.5 million by a British publication for the photos and they turned that down. Instead there will be a single photo for which publications will pay and the money will go to charity. Any occasion like this is for everybody - not just for the person with the largest cheque book."The money raised from the sale of photographs will go to the couple's Adopt-A-Minefield charity.
As Sir Paul and Heather prepare for their wedding tomorrow, Mr. Baker describes them as being:"very, very smiley and happy, they are all sparkly-eyed, it is nice and cute. They are just bright and wide-eyed like couples are when they are about to get married - they are just like a couple of excited teenagers up there."Mr. Baker answered some questions about the wedding. He said that there was no dress code and that the banquet menu will be vegetarian and "very liquid and alcoholic. It's a rock 'n' roll wedding!"
And what about Sir John Leslie's revelation of the big secret? (see June 7) Mr. Baker reports that Sir Paul thought it was "hilarious" that it was the 84-year-old man who leaked the wedding date to the press:"They just wanted to keep it quiet as long as they could but at the back of their minds they knew people would find out."
