Linda's McCartney's close friend, Carla Lane, has told The Liverpool Daily Post that she wishes Sir Paul well in his new marriage. She recalls "I visited Paul and his family soon after her death and it was tragic to see him like that." and she knows for certain that Linda would want him to be happy:"She would never have wanted Paul to be lonely. Anyone who knew Linda would know that. He is not the sort of man who should be alone."Ms. Lane has spoken to Heather about Linda:"Heather said to me I know Linda was one love story and I am another and I have to acknowledge that. It was there and he can't just throw it away and I wouldn't want him to do that'. Heather is able to separate the two things. Linda is one love story and now Heather is another. She seems far too sensible to be jealous of Linda. She will just be herself because that's what Paul fell in love with and she knows no one can be like Linda. She is very sensitive about the places that were special to Paul and Linda and she will not go to those. She goes to the London house but Linda never really liked that.Sir Paul's cousin, Kate Robbins, agrees with Carla Lane. Last week, she was quoted as saying, "He is really happy and that's great. I don't think anyone thought he would be again."
"I feel good about the relationship. The few times I have been in Heather's company I have liked her very much. She is a very lovely lady and, like Linda, she loves and cares about animals. It may be true that she has had a bit of a rough time with Paul's family but I don't think they would have been horrible to her. You had to know Linda and their children to know how difficult it would be for them to accept another woman in Paul's life. No matter how famous or busy she became, she never ignored her children. She would fly them all over the world to be with her and Paul.
"Linda was a very close and dear friend and I know she would say Go for it Paul'. He is entitled to a life. As for whether it is going to work out, who am I to say? I just know what I have seen of them together and I see good times ahead. I say good luck to them both."
