The President of the United States is offered gifts wherever he goes. Most of them are sent to the U.S. National Archives to be added to his presidential library one day. Some items, the President wishes to keep for his private collection. If so, he is required under United States federal law to report the value of the gift. On the financial disclosure form President George Bush filed on Wednesday with the Office of Government Ethics, the President listed a gift he would like to keep: "Sir Paul McCartney, New York, NY 10019, Hardcover book: The Beatles Anthology, by The Beatles, signed by donor, $310."
