The Liverpool newspapers are reporting today that while Sir Paul was in Liverpool over the weekend to make his surprise appearance at George Harrison's tribute concert, he drove his green Jaguar over to Forthlin Road in Allerton to show Heather Mills the house where he was raised.
A young woman who was visiting her boyfriend's parents' house at the time, describes the scene:"We followed him round the block and when he stopped outside his old house, we asked if we could have our picture taken with him. He was very down-to-earth and was laughing and joking with us. He said Heather had wanted to see where he used to live as a child. We just couldn't believe he was outside his old house. I was panicking a bit because I couldn't think of what to say, but luckily we managed to get a passer-by to take our picture. Heather stayed in the car but she was smiling and waving and she looked lovely."You may recall that the house where the McCartney family lived from 1955 - 1964 is now owned and maintained by the National Trust. The property was purchased in November, 1995 and has since been restored and and filled with original and period objects and furniture. Regular tours are conducted of this historic place where many of the early Lennon and McCartney tunes were born. However, when Sir Paul came to visit over the weekend, he was unable show Heather the inside of the house. There was nobody home.
