Sir Paul's holiday in southern India with Heather Mills has been spoiled by reporters. Sir Paul arrived in Kerala in his private jet on January 11. The couple checked into the seaside Coconut Lagoon Hotel under the name of "Mitchell". (An hotel employee confessed, "We did not know it was McCartney.") For the next three days the couple went boating and visited the beach.
On Monday, Sir Paul and Heather left Kumarakom abruptly when he learned he had been discovered by the local media. He also canceled his reservations at the Ashtamudi Resorts where the couple had planned to stay during the next leg of their journey. According to Venu Nath, managing director of the resort, "We were only told a celebrity was to visit us. We hired professionals to decorate the place with flowers as we were told not to go into extravaganza." Then he was informed by Sir Paul's travel agent that the couple had changed their plans. Mr. Nath reported that, "The agent said he was so agitated that media came to know of his stay and he decided to leave abruptly. We were told if he liked the place he will stay for a couple of days. Now I am disappointed."
