A local Los Angeles television station is reporting that George Harrison passed away in Sir Paul's secluded Beverly Hills estate. This is the estate that Sir Paul supposedly purchased from Courtney Love last spring. (See April 2 below) The station reports that during their last visit in New York city, Sir Paul offered George the use of his home which is located near the UCLA Medical Center where George received cancer treatments during his last weeks of life.
At the time of George's death, it was reported that he had passed away at the home of his friend, Gavin de Becker. His official death certificate, however, listed an address which does not exist. According to Los Angeles Police Department spokesman Jack Richter, this practice is sometimes used by celebrities to avoid their place of death being besieged by fans or souvenir hunters: "In the celebrity world, people do that kind of thing to throw off reporters. It is a privacy issue. It is not a crime to give a different address as the place of death, unless there is an intent to defraud such as in a matter of insurance, which is not the case here. If it was known where Harrison died, the place would probably have become part of one of those Grave Line tours.''
