In a statement delivered to CNN television, Sir Paul implicitly endorsed
the United States and Great Britain's air and missiles strikes against
terrorist targets in Afghanistan:"I was very pleased to see that President Bush had an Islamic prayer read at the Washington Memorial. That made the point that the current conflict is not an attack on Islam, but just the opposite. We are involved in striking a blow for the freedom of religions, including Islam."Sir Paul called the terrorists attacks against the United States threat to
freedom and called the United States "one of the greatest democracies on
Earth, containing people from all races and religions.""To some people the West may appear to have millions of faults, but the West doesn't allow Hitlers, that is our strength. It may be our only strength, but it is a bloody good one."
